Impounded Vehicles FAQ’s

My car was towed to the impound lot and I do not want it anymore. Can I just leave it there?

Yes.  In a situation where you no longer want your vehicle and decide that you would like to turn the title and keys for the vehicle over to Griffith Towing, we will dispose of the vehicle at no charge to you. 

How do I get my vehicle out of impound?

To make the retrieval of your vehicle go smoothly, we will need to get some information from you before you pick up your vehicle.

Call 662-393-4635 before you go to the impound lot. You will need to know your tow and storage fees that will be due at the time of the release of your vehicle. Please note: Towing and storage fees are set by law enforcement agencies.

Bring one of these for proof of identification.

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Government issued photo identification card
  • Passport
  • Military ID card
  • State issued ID card

Bring one of these for proof of ownership of your vehicle.
Vehicles can only be released to the owner or designated insurance agency.

  • Vehicle registration
  • Valid car insurance policy
Do I have to pay to get my car out of impound today?

Yes.  Tow and storage fees are due “in full” at the time of release. No partial payments can be accepted.

What if a hold has been placed on my vehicle?

If a “Hold” has been placed on your vehicle by any police agency, you must obtain a release from that agency before the vehicle can be released.

Is the impound lot closed on Christmas?

Impound lots will be closed on major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.

Can you move my car from impound to the repair shop?

Yes, we can tow your vehicle from the impound lot to the repair shop of your choice or to your home.

Can I get my personal property out of my vehicle if I choose to leave it in the impound lot?

Yes, as long as the property is unattached to the vehicle.  The owner cannot remove the tires, battery, radio or other valued car parts and essentially leave just a shell of the body remaining. You must bring proof of identification and proof of ownership of the vehicle before you can remove personal effects.

General Towing FAQ’s

I have requested a tow. Do I need to stay with my car until the tow truck arrives?

If you are unable to remain with your car, you can make arrangements with our dispatcher to get the key. Let the dispatcher know that you will be leaving your vehicle unattended.
